Candle Safety & Advice

Just a few points to get the most from your Sarah Ireland candle.

When you burn your candle for the first time allow it to burn until the wax melts to the edge of the jar. Wax has a ‘memory’ and so this will help it to burn well on future lightings and will avoid the tunnelling effect.

When not alight, use the copper lid to help to keep the scent in and dust out!

Before each burn trim the wick to approximately 5mm. This avoids black smoke being given off or marks being left on the glass. Take care to make sure no trimmings or used matches are left in the wax.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Ensure the candle is on an even surface away from any flammable items. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

Burn for a maximum of 4 hours at a time. Using a snuffer or teaspoon to extinguish the flame minimises risk of wax splash and reduces the smoke smell.

If burning more than one candle at a time, leave 10cm between them.

Extinguish your candle when 10mm of wax is left. Take care not to touch the glass as it is likely to be hot.

If the candle repeatedly smokes, flickers or if the flame becomes too high it is not burning as it should. Just extinguish, cool, trim the wick and then check for drafts before relighting.

Basic safety info is repeated on the label on the base of the candle if needed.

Now just sit back, relax and ENJOY!
